A message from Haitham Hamoda, chairman and Sara Moger, chief executive

Associate Specialist Gynaecologist, Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Dumfries.
Trustee and past Chair (2015-17) British Menopause Society.
Founder and Managing Director of Menopause Matters Limited.

All of us at the BMS: trustees, medical advisory council, members and staff warmly congratulate Heather Currie on the richly deserved award as a Member of the Order of the British Empire. This was announced in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours List, published on June 12, 2021.

The citation highlights her work for the Scottish Government in developing a strategy for menopause policy. But as those of us who know Heather well can confirm, there are so many further achievements that merit this recognition – over many, many years of service both professional and charitable. Chief of these is surely her commitment and contribution to our Society. Heather is a distinguished gynaecologist and internationally acknowledged as a leading menopause specialist.

Together with her many friends and colleagues, we send our warmest good wishes to Heather, Matt and their family. And perhaps most important is the silent thanks from the many thousands of women she has helped and the broad range of health professionals she has educated and trained … and continues to do so.
