This multi-disciplinary meeting brings together gerontologists, geneticists, epidemiologists, odontologists and nutritionists, as they consider the implications of an ageless society. They will investigate the impact this might have on the UK population, the management of healthcare services from a sociological and a clinical perspective, and the part nutrition and lifestyle have to play.

Meeting objectives:

  • Explore the demographics of ageing
  • Investigate the ethical implications of interventions to slow ageing
  • Understand the genetics of ageing
  • Understand strategies for healthy ageing, including nutrition and oral health in older people
  • Discuss future NHS policy and cultural changes necessary to accommodate an ageless society
  • Reflect on new research demonstrating improved survival after stroke
