Timothy Hillard DM FFSRH FRCOG

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Poole Hospital, Dorset

Graduated from Southampton University and spent most of his postgraduate training at King’s College Hospital, London where he developed special interests in Menopause and Uro-gynaecology. He received his MD (1994) for work on transdermal HRT and osteoporosis. Appointed Consultant in Poole in 1994 and heads a busy Uro-gynaecological department and runs one of the few specialist menopause clinics in the South of England outside London. He has lectured and published widely on various aspects of the Menopause and Uro-gynaecology.

Current Position: Consultant Gynaecologist, King’s College Hospital

I have had a special interest in the menopause and HRT for many years and am committed to improving the quality of care for post-menopausal women. I am a passionate supporter of the BMS and have served on the MAC several times, believing that I have been a productive and effective member of the group. I have helped organise a number of successful courses including the Annual RCOG/BMS Meeting on Post Reproductive Health and the 2018 BMS Annual Conference. The BMS and Women’s Health Concern Recommendations on HRT were co-authored by me.

In the past I have carried out research into prevention of post-menopausal osteoporosis and the effects of HRT on skin. I have also published papers on the use of different forms of HRT in the treatment of symptoms of the menopause including depression. Fertility treatment in women with premature ovarian insufficiency is another special interest of mine.

I am a member of the Council of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Section of the RSM and was President of the Section in 2013.

Mr Haitham Hamoda MBChB, MD, FRCOG

Mr Haitham Hamoda is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He is the Clinical Lead for the Menopause Service at King’s College Hospital and the Chairman of the British Menopause Society. Mr Hamoda has published widely in his specialised field and is actively involved in ongoing research projects both locally and nationally and teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

He is co-author of The British Menopause Society & Women’s Health Concern 2016 recommendations on hormone replacement therapy in menopausal women and author of the British Menopause Society guideline on the management of women with premature ovarian insufficiency 2017.

Mr Hamoda is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and was awarded a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Aberdeen. He obtained his accreditation as a subspecialist in reproductive medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.

Dr Annice Mukherjee

Dr Annice Mukherjee is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Author. Annice has special interests in reproductive endocrinology and menopause, thyroid disease, pituitary disease, calcium and bone disorders, late effects of cancer treatment and medical weight management.

Annice has held elected national positions on the programme and clinical committees for the Society for Endocrinology. She contributes to the Society’s reproductive endocrine network, their patient website “You and Your Hormones” and their magazine “The Endocrinologist.” She is a past treasurer of the North West Endocrine Society.

Annice is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and member of the British Thyroid Association and British Menopause Society. Annice was awarded an MSc from King’s College London in 1998 and MD from the University of Manchester in 2008. She has published original articles and reviews extensively in high impact peer reviewed journals including JCE&M and Endocrine Reviews. Annice provides peer review for several specialist endocrine journals.

Annice supports the Trekstock young cancer support charity, works closely with the charity Prevent Breast Cancer and Greater Manchester Cancer network, to improve awareness and information about safe menopause management in breast cancer survivors.

Annice published “The Complete Guide to the Menopause” with Penguin Random House publisher in 2021.

She worked as a Consultant at Salford Royal Hospital Trust until 2019, having worked in the NHS for 27 years.

She currently practices at Spire Manchester, Orth Team centre and HCA Wilmslow Hospitals as well as her not for profit work.

Prof John C Stevenson, MB BS, FRCP, FESC, MFSEM

Prof John Stevenson is Emeritus Reader in Metabolic Medicine in the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, Visiting Professor at the Belgrade School of Medicine, and Consultant Physician at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, where he jointly runs the UK’s first female heart disease clinic. His research has included studies of metabolic risk factors for coronary heart disease and the effects of sex hormone deficiency and replacement, and metabolic bone diseases, particularly the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. He lectures extensively throughout the world, and has over 450 publications in journals and books, including 12 textbooks. He is Chairman of the charity Women’s Health Concern, Trustee of the British Menopause Society, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Foundation Member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK) and Executive Committee Member of the International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology. He is a past Chairman of the British Menopause Society, past Executive Committee Member of the International Menopause Society and of the European Menopause and Andropause Society, past Non-US Section Head, Cardiovascular diseases in women (reproductive & post-reproductive age), Women’s Health Faculty, Faculty of 1000 Medicine, and past Editor of Maturitas.

As director of the Menopause & PMS Centres at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals, Nick leads a busy clinical and research team which publishes widely, presents at scientific meetings and trains health professionals at all levels.

He set up his Gynaecological Endocrinology (Gynae Endo) Research Unit within the Women’s Health Research Centre of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He also runs a research programme at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (C & W). He and his team of research fellows and research nurses run an active research programme consisting of translational, clinical and pharmaceutically sponsored research in menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), premenstrual syndrome, androgens and contraception.

Nick has authored 200 peer reviewed publications with more than 7000 citations to date and has a Google Scholar h index of 41. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences, as an invited key note and plenary speaker.

Through his work with a number of societies, councils and women’s groups he campaigns actively for women’s health issues both nationally and internationally. His affiliations include:

Kathy Abernethy

Kathy Abernethy is Director of Menopause Services at Peppy and as former Co-Lead of a long-established NHS Menopause service has extensive clinical experience working with women at and after menopause. As Chairman of the Society until July 2019, she contributed to the British Menopause Society handbook on menopause management and is a registered BMS Specialist, current Trustee and Medical Advisory Council Member. She is a member of the Clinical Reference Group for the NHS Optimal Management Pathway group for menopause and has an education programme for nurses. Her book for women: “Menopause: The One Stop Guide” was Highly Commended in the BMA Book Awards 2019.

With Peppy, Kathy leads a team of menopause practitioners to offer one to one personalised menopause support through the support of employers.

Joyce Harper, BSc, PhD

Joyce Harper is an author, academic, scientist and educator. She is Professor of Reproductive Science at University College London in the Institute for Women’s Health where she is Head of the Reproductive Science and Society Group. She is a Director of the Embryology and PGD Academy which delivers an online certificate in clinical embryology and founder of Global Women Connected.

She has worked in the fields of fertility, genetics and reproductive science since 1987, written over 200 scientific papers and published three books. She started her career as an embryologist, then moved into reproductive science and genetics. Now she is researching into fertility education, FemTech, IVF add-ons, gamete donation and the menopause.

Joyce is a passionate educator at all levels, from the general public to PhD students. She is invited to numerous international meetings, including key note and plenary lectures. She regularly appears on TV, radio and in the press.

Having rowed for Cambridge and GB in the 1984 Olympics, Kate is an advisor to the English Institute of Sport and was an accredited doctor for the 2012 London Olympics.

Debby Holloway is a Nurse Consultant in gynaecology at Guys and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Sara Moger

Sara began her post-graduate business career in marketing, with positions at Surrey County Cricket Club and at Extrastaff, part of the Blue Arrow group. After 11 years she converted from the commercial to the charity world, where she has remained! A senior managerial position with the Lord’s Taverners led to her creating her own consultancy – and professional introduction to a range of healthcare charities. As the partner of a GP in SE London, she was already personally committed to the broader medical world.

After consultancy roles with Baby Lifeline, Women’s Health Concern (WHC) for whom she is a trustee, and the British Menopause Society (BMS) she was appointed Chief Executive of the BMS in 2007. In 2011 WHC became the patient arm of the BMS. To date, Sara has served seven distinguished chairmen and is an ex officio member of the Medical Advisory Council. She has transformed the Society to a business with an annual turnover of close to £1 million and 1,400
members.

Sara sits on numerous healthcare committees and works closely with NHS England, RCGP, RCOG, and FSRH. She was a lay member of the NICE Guideline for Menopause Care, 2013-2015. With the rapidly increasing national and international profile of post-reproductive health, Sara has a key role, not only with healthcare professionals in the development of responsible menopause education and management, but with politicians and throughout the media.

Professor Anne MacGregor

Anne is a Specialist in Headache and Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare at Barts Health NHS Trust, London and she has an academic post at the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma at Queen Mary, University of London. Her clinical work crosses the boundaries between neurology and reproductive medicine. She is a recognised trainer for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare for the Diploma, Letters of Competence and Menopause. She has undertaken research in all aspects of primary headaches but her main interest focusses on the effects of sex hormones on headache. In addition to her work in headache she is active in medical education and she is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.

She has been a member of the BMS for more than 20 years and now serves on the medical advisory council.

Miss Lynne Robinson

Lynne Robinson is a Consultant Gynaecologist with her NHS practice based at Birmingham Women’s Hospital (BWH). She practices privately at BMI Priory Hospital Edgbaston.

Lynne graduated from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1996 and completed a MD in basic sciences related to Reproductive Medicine in Edinburgh in 2003.

She completed sub speciality training in Reproductive Medicine in Birmingham in 2012, started her consultant role in 2013 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2019. Lynne is Clinical lead of the Birmingham Women’s Fertility Centre (BWFC) and the Menopause and Reproductive Endocrine services at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. BWFC has the second largest Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis Clinic in the UK and is one of the largest fertility centres in the West Midlands.

Lynne is a fertility specialist, experienced in all aspects of fertility care. This includes assessment of subfertility problems, assisted conception such as IVF/ICSI, ovulation induction, donor gamete treatment and male fertility treatment such as surgical sperm retrieval.

Lynne leads the Menopause service at BWH which is the largest NHS clinic in the West Midlands and deals with complex referrals alongside offering an implant service. As a me
