• This presentation examines the complex interplay between menopause and the musculoskeletal system, focusing on the physiological and biochemical mechanisms underlying the musculoskeletal changes associated with estrogen deficiency. The talk will address the effects of menopause on bone metabolism, muscle mass and strength, and connective tissue integrity, and examine how hormonal fluctuations contribute to conditions such as osteoporosis, sarcopenia, and joint pain. We will also review the guidance about the use of HRT for osteoporosis and discuss evidence-based lifestyle interventions for maintaining bone and muscle strength.

Incretin-based weight loss therapies and menopause: important considerations and confidence in managing your patients – Dr Katie Barber

• This session will provide clarity about the use of incretin-based weight loss therapies with many patients accessing these privately, and the implications for patients using HRT (and hormonal contraceptives). We’ll review the guidelines for these medications, key considerations for women in midlife and beyond in terms of efficacy and safety, together with improving confidence in adjusting and monitoring HRT in women using these therapies.

ADHD and autism in the context of managing the menopause – Dr Clare Spencer 

• This session will discuss the diagnosis of ADHD, the effects of estrogen fluctuations on the brain and their influence on ADHD symptoms, followed by approaches to managing menopause in the context of ADHD
