Overview: Contraception in perimenopause and menopause: who still needs it and what are the options? – Dr Juliet Balfour

Premature Ovarian Insufficiency: from diagnosis to holistic management – Dr Angela Sharma

  • This session will look at the up-to-date evidence to help healthcare professionals manage patients with POI following the latest ESHRE guidelines published in 2024. We will discuss diagnosis and investigations, causes, long term health effects and holistic management including counselling, lifestyle advice, HRT and fertility and contraception.

PMDD – case studies and treatment options for the menopause transition – Dr Annie Neill and Dr Hannah Short

  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a cyclical hormone-based mood disorder, resulting from a severe negative reaction in the brain to the natural rise and fall of estrogen and progesterone. PMDD is the most significant form of premenstrual disorder, and it is the severity of symptoms that differentiates it from milder PMS. This session will explore how PMDD is exacerbated during perimenopause and examine evidence-based treatment options, illustrated by case studies, together with practical guidance for the clinic setting.
